Cheryl Rayl, LPC-S, MAC has been in the behavioral health field for over 25 years. She has experience working with struggling adolescents and elderly clients, professionally trained to treat individuals suffering from debilitating mental health disorders while also providing care to those battling the disease of addiction. Cheryl has counseled clients in various settings, treating individuals, couples and families, and facilitating a myriad of group therapy sessions focused on numerous psychological issues. She is also meets the qualifications for Substance Abuse Professionals according to DOT regulations and is an approved evaluator for the Professional Recovery Network, Cheryl has a passion for helping others, and this passion carries over into her role as Counselor Supervisor. Dedicated to helping new counselors navigate their way through the unfamiliar world of mental health, Cheryl guides these trailblazing professionals down their own unique paths, enabling them to find their niche and develop the skills needed to help transform minds and heal hearts. Dr. Kimberly Scales earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Supervision and Education from Argosy University and her Masters of Education in Counseling and Psychology from Tarleton State University. Kimberly is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), and a Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professional (CCJAP). Kimberly has worked with adult and adolescents in addiction services since 2001, which helps her to understand the challenges of those who struggle with substance abuse.
Kimberly’s an integrated cognitive-behavioral counselor. Kimberly also believes a person is able to overcome any challenge in life with support and if they are willing to do the necessary work. As a counselor, I would like to help educate and equip the client with the tools and resources to support the lifestyle changes the client desires. Kimberly specializes in working with adults, adolescents, and couples in need of; substance abuse/addictive behaviors, anger management, self-esteem, spirituality, grief/loss, and trauma services.
Dr. Scales is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated and the counseling honor society Chi Sigma Iota. Dr. Scales has been a member of the National Association for Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselors(NAADAC) and Texas Association of Addiction Professionals (TAAP) since 2005.
Master’s Level Counseling Student
Caresse Benson is currently a practicum student at Lamar University where she is pursuing her degree in clinical mental health counseling. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2013. After completing her Master’s degree, she will go on to complete her certification in mediation and forensic counseling. While working in crisis services she has gained experience in working with a variety of clients. Her passion is to uplift and empower the community by providing them with the necessary tools to succeed through the therapeutic process. During her practicum process, she will not only be a facilitator in your journey for change but an advocate as well.
Joshua approaches counseling from a holistic perspective recognizing the importance of the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of the person. He encourages a strong focus on the relationships between thoughts, feelings, and actions, and how those relationships can affect us positively or negatively. As a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas, he works with people to assist in overcoming personal obstacles.
Joshua has worked with adults, couples, and adolescents. He has worked with individuals in areas of substance abuse, depression, anxiety, trauma, suicidality, and anger management. Joshua received his Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling in 2008 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
