Dr. Kimberly Scales earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Supervision and Education from Argosy University and her Masters of Education in Counseling and Psychology from Tarleton State University. Kimberly is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), and a Certified Criminal Justice Addiction Professional (CCJAP). Kimberly has worked with adult and adolescents in addiction services since 2001, which helps her to understand the challenges of those who struggle with substance abuse.
Kimberly’s an integrated cognitive-behavioral counselor. Kimberly also believes a person is able to overcome any challenge in life with support and if they are willing to do the necessary work. As a counselor, I would like to help educate and equip the client with the tools and resources to support the lifestyle changes the client desires. Kimberly specializes in working with adults, adolescents, and couples in need of; substance abuse/addictive behaviors, anger management, self-esteem, spirituality, grief/loss, and trauma services.
Dr. Scales is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated and the counseling honor society Chi Sigma Iota. Dr. Scales has been a member of the National Association for Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselors(NAADAC) and Texas Association of Addiction Professionals (TAAP) since 2005.
Master’s Level Counseling Student
Caresse Benson is currently a practicum student at Lamar University where she is pursuing her degree in clinical mental health counseling. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2013. After completing her Master’s degree, she will go on to complete her certification in mediation and forensic counseling. While working in crisis services she has gained experience in working with a variety of clients. Her passion is to uplift and empower the community by providing them with the necessary tools to succeed through the therapeutic process. During her practicum process, she will not only be a facilitator in your journey for change but an advocate as well.
